Admiral Naveed Ashraf

The new chief of Naval Staff

Sheikh Hasin Abrar

On Oct. 07, Admiral Naveed Ashraf took charge as the new Chief of Naval Staff in a change of command ceremony held in Islamabad.
In his farewell address, the outgoing chief congratulated his successor for assuming command. He said as India transitions into Bharat, we will see pronounced fundamentalism, extremism and bigotry in our neighbourhood. This implies a significant war-mongering and expansion-centered agenda that will complicate security challenges in the future, adding that we must be prepared to respond to the challenges with professionalism, preparedness and unwavering self-esteem.
The outgoing naval chief expressed confidence in the new chief’s ability and worth as his successor who, he added, would lead the force to new heights. “The admiral has a distinguished career, studded with notable achievements and I am sure he would prove to be an able and worthy successor who will lead the navy to new heights, God willing,” he said.
Amjad Khan Niazi said Pakistan Navy stands as a strong and vital arm of the country’s armed forces capable of protecting our maritime frontiers. He said Pakistan believes in collaboration when it comes to maritime security.
