May 14: The first-ever summit meeting between President Obama and the Leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) was held at Camp David — the country retreat of the US President — to discuss ways to enhance their partnership and deepen security cooperation. May 17: A New York Times report “Fake Diplomas, Real Cash: Pakistani Company Axact Reaps Millions” written by NYT Pakistan Bureau Chief Declan Walsh unveiled that a local IT company Axact allegedly earned millions of dollars from scams involving fake degrees, non-existent online universities and manipulation of customers.

May 19: After six long years, international cricket came to Pakistan with the arrival of Zimbabwe cricket team for playing a series. The tour marks the first by a Test-level team since seven Sri Lankan cricketers were wounded during a 2009 attack by militants in Lahore.

May 25: Protests erupted in several cities across Punjab after two lawyers — including Daska Bar Association President Rana Khalid Abbas — were killed during a clash between protesting lawyers and police in Daska. The police opened fire on the lawyers as they demonstrated a protest against the City SHO.

May 26: Setting a new precedent for future governments, PTI Chairman Imran Khan and Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak heard public grievances through live radio calls on Pakhtunkhwa radio FM 92.2. The programme named “Talk to Imran Khan” was arranged by Directorate of Information Peshawar.

May 23: Dr John F. Nash Jr., a Nobel Prize-winning mathematician who revolutionized the mathematical field of game theory, and whose descent into and recovery from mental illness inspired the Academy Award-winning film “A Beautiful Mind,” died in a car crash. He was 86.
