Our Royal Democrats

Our parliament describes itself as representative of 160 million people and its decisions as expression of popular will. But in reality, the despotic powers of a single dictator or Pharaoh have been distributed among four hundred people.

At times, I am surprised at the horrifying success of the global media. There are some people who spend the whole of their life sitting on the mats of mosques, all of a sudden, with their typical religious look and appearance, these religious scholars appear TV and announce to the public that the whole struggle of their party is aimed at the survival and strengthening of democracy. Another astonishing scene which convinces me of the magical powers of our media is that in which, some religious leaders who are strong advocate of the enforcement of Islamic laws in the country, make a public announcement in the media that the revolution will come through democratic means. They insist that they are fighting for the protection of the law and the constitution and for the consolidation of democratic values in the country. Look at the simplicity of these champions of revolution, who claim to be working for the glorification of Islam. They believe that the only short cut to the revolution lies in democracy. They seem quite indifferent to the fact that those who have been persecuted and wounded by democracy during the last one and a half century, are now out on the streets to protest against their on-going exploitation. All of them are chanting that democracy is the worst form of the dictatorship, imposed by one per cent capitalists on the remaining 99 per cent of the people. In fact, revolution, which is the direct opposite of democracy and dictatorship, is like a rushing torrent or storm, in which all looters and exploiters are swept away, whether they take the form of a single dictator, or appear as the dictatorship of four hundred parliamentarians.

Democracy in the world is not more than two centuries old. Previously, the whole world was ruled by kings and monarchs, who were dependent on a particular class of society, which provided them the much needed soldiers for infantry and cavalry, and made available to them the financial resources required for the continuation of wars and suppression of revolts. Initially, this class of society consisted of feudal lords, and later on, in the wake of the industrial revolution, it was made up of capitalists. After enthroning someone with the help of mercenaries, these king makers used to plunder the common man as much as they liked. Without any fear or remorse, they grabbed the hard-earned money of the masses and used it for their own luxuries and for building grand palaces on the tombs of their beloved wives. The signs of luxurious activities and lavish spendings of these monarchs and their companions are still found everywhere, from the magnificent courts of Rome and elegantly gilded palace of Versailles in France, to the Forbidden City of China and Forty Pillars of Isfahan. All such magnificent palaces and awe-inspiring buildings were built with the money of the common man.
“The signs of luxurious activities and lavish spendings of these monarchs and their companions are still found everywhere, from the magnificent courts of Rome and elegantly gilded palace of Versailles in France, to the Forbidden City of China and Forty Pillars of Isfahan.”
But three hundred years ago, the long suppressed downtrodden people of the world began showing signs of anger and outrage against this cruelty and injustice.
The first manifestation of such bitter feelings was the French Revolution, during which not only the king but even those who had assisted him in his despotic and tyrannical rule were also beheaded. In these changed circumstances, the capitalists and feudal lords who still had a considerable amount of wealth, had to think of some new ways and techniques for maintaining their hold on power and subjugating the masses. Of course, in the new scenario, the politically conscious people could not be suppressed by means of guns and soldiers. At last, to achieve their objective, they improvised another deadly and deceitful system called democracy, in which the dictatorial powers of a single autocratic ruler were distributed among four hundred elected representatives, who were organised in the form of parties and groups. Previously, a large number of capitalists and feudal lords collectively used to provide financial assistance and manpower to a king. But in the new age of democracy, several capitalists and feudal lords get together and provide financial and other material resources to a party, so that whenever it comes to power, it should remain within their control and work for their interests. Sometimes, huge amounts of wealth are provided to a number of parties, so that whichever party comes to power, it should firmly remain within their grip. Members of the Assembly may belong to any class of society, but the reins and interests of the party must remain within the hands of the capitalists and financers. The president of the United States may be the son of a shoemaker, but for his election victory, he must have billions of dollars, which are provided by a group of capitalists, and quite naturally, after becoming president, his main pre-occupation is safeguarding their interests. President Obama spent one billion dollars on his election campaign during the last US elections. His rival candidate also spent the same amount of money. A total amount of five and a half billion dollars was spent on other important elections for the Senate and other such institutions. This huge sum was provided to the candidates by the members of the corporate culture, who go on squeezing the blood of ordinary people. It has been decided that a maximum of six billion dollars would be spent by both sides in the next elections. Britain claims to be the oldest democracy in the world.

According to the rules of its election commission, a candidate can spend as many as six hundred thousand pounds on his election campaign. Official statistics have revealed that during last elections, each party spent one million pounds on advertisements, three hundred thousand pounds on residence, two hundred thousand pounds on public meetings, two hundred thousand pounds on transport and eighteen million pounds on other expenses. In addition to this, thirty million pounds were spent by different groups, institutions and media houses, which assist various political parties. In the first round of the last presidential election in France, each candidate spent 17 million euros. This amount was increased to 21 million euros in the second round of the same election. It is estimated that four billion dollars are spent by the candidates during each general election in India. It is in addition to that large sum of money which is spent by various capitalist companies in the form of advertisements, TV shows, sponsors, transport and tickets of aeroplanes. This is how the so-called representatives of the people win elections and occupy their seats in the legislative bodies of the country. Afterwards, if the Taliban do not accept the contract of the Unicol company, the champions of democracy invade their country and see the casualties of their fellow countrymen. The whole credit goes to democracy and its successful weapon called media.

“President Obama spent one billion dollars on his election campaign during the last US elections. His rival candidate also spent the same amount of money.”
This parliament allows rascals, scoundrels, robbers, thieves and most corrupt persons to plunder the people and squeeze their blood. It gives them the certificate to use public money for buying properties all over the world; and despite all such things, most ridiculously, it describes itself as representative of 160 million people and its decisions as expression of popular will. But in reality, the despotic powers of a single dictator or Pharaoh have been distributed among four hundred people.
Now, this class of our society has also become very clever. Members of this class have understood the fact that people do not like to see the same face for a long time. For this reason, after every four or five years, a new face is introduced by them. As soon as they notice that people are fed up with two leaders, they at once introduce a third one. They know that like the previous two, this third leader has also gained power by virtue of their wealth, and thus, he too will serve their purposes and promote their interests. Our media also projects him as a hero, but that hero has no power or courage to defy the dictates of his financers and sponsors.

Our simple- minded religious leaders are fully aware of the fact that Islam believes in domination. But what type of domination? Suppose five hundred people live in a village, but they are dominated by just five rascals. It is the Will of Allah to abolish the domination of these five rascals and replace it with the domination of His own Law. But this is not possible under the Western democratic system, even in the next two hundred years.
