Today, the world has become a small place, thanks to the ease with which one can travel from one part of the globe to the other. As such, it is important to acknowledge and reward excellence in the Airline industry which is the backbone of tourism around the world. Global airline agency AirlineRatings.com recently announced its Airline Excellence awards for 2017. The results were based on major international industry and government audits, conducted by the agency, and other key criteria like fleet age, profitability and passenger review ratings. In order to feature in the top list, it was important for airlines to achieve a seven-star safety rating and demonstrate leadership in innovation for passenger comfort. Here are the top five airlines in the world that won the awards:<\/p>\n

1. Air New Zealand<\/span><\/h2>\n

For the fourth consecutive year, Air New Zealand has emerged as the winner of the Airline of the year award. Air New Zealand’s commitment to a young fleet and focus on the environment was commendable leading to its high ratings.<\/p>\n

2. Qantas Airways<\/span><\/h2>\n

Winning the award for Best Lounges and featuring 2nd on the overall list, Australia’s Qantas got noticed as it produced a stunning financial turnaround in 2016. With an all-time high customer approval rating and continuous innovations, Qantas has demonstrated excellence.<\/p>\n

3. Singapore Airlines<\/span><\/h2>\n

Singapore Airlines also won the Best Economy award. It has always been at the forefront of the economy class product and with the new premium economy, revamped business class and the new A350 over the last 12 months, it sprung up to third place.<\/p>\n

4. Cathay Pacific Airways<\/span><\/h2>\n

Cathay Pacific has won several awards in the past. It clinched the Best Business Class in 2013 and 2015 and Best Asia\/Pacific Airline for 2016. This year, it finished at 4th place on account of its continuous excellence.<\/p>\n

5. Virgin Australia\/Virgin Atlantic<\/span><\/h2>\n
