\u00a0Oct 29: <\/strong><\/span>Senator Pervaiz Rashid was relieved of his responsibilities as the federal minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage.<\/p>\n

What happened? <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

  1. The government held the minister responsible for a \u201clapse\u201d following the controversy of a report in Dawn.<\/li>\n
  2. Mr Rashid has not been declared guilty of any wrongdoing yet.<\/li>\n
  3. An inquiry committee including senior officers of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Military Intelligence (MI) and Intelligence Bureau (IB) is being formed by the government to clearly apportion blame.<\/li>\n
  4. \u201cPervaiz Rashid had some recorded and unrecorded data related to the controversial story and he should have told the journalist not to publish this story however, he didn\u2019t do anything in this regard,\u2019 said Interior Minister, Chaudhry Nisar Ali.

      About the Althing<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

      1. The Althing is one of the oldest extant parliamentary institutions in the world.<\/li>\n
      2. Its foundation at Thingvellir (Parliament Plains) in 930 AD marks the birth of the Icelandic nation.<\/li>\n
      3. The Althing met at Thingvellir from c. 930 to 1798.<\/li>\n
      4. Even after Iceland’s union with Norway in 1262, the Althing still held its sessions at \u00deingvellir.<\/li>\n
      5. It was abolished by decree of the Danish crown in 1800.<\/li>\n
      6. The Althing was reconvened in Reykjav\u00edk in 1845, and it remained there, with the exception of a special session in Thingvellir that proclaimed the establishment of the Icelandic republic on June 17, 1944.<\/li>\n
