Jahangir’s World Times (JWT): First of all, please tell us about your educational background?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Nuaman Ali (NA):<\/strong> <\/span>I did my Matriculation from Central Model School, Lower Mall, Lahore. Then I graduated from Forman Christian College (FCC), Lahore with political science and economics as major subjects. Later, I earned my master’s degree in Economics from University of the Punjab, Lahore and LLB from Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU), Multan.<\/p>\n

\"Nuaman<\/a>JWT: As everyone starts dreaming of a future career in childhood, what were your dreams? Did you always aspire to be a PMS officer?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

NA:<\/span> <\/strong>My father served as Deputy Secretary Law, from 1989 to 2001. During these days, my schooling was on and I used to go to my father’s office in Civil Secretariat, Lahore after school. It was during this period that I started dreaming of future career as a Civil Servant. I am immensely thankful to Allah Almighty as he blessed me by fulfilling my childhood dream.<\/p>\n

JWT: What’s the thing that attracted you most toward PMS? <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

NA:<\/strong><\/span> PMS, actually, provides one with opportunities to play an active role in decision-making as well as policymaking. This aspect attracted me toward PMS.<\/p>\n

JWT: How much helpful did you find Jahangir’s World Times (JWT) during your preparation? <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

NA:<\/strong><\/span> JWT helped me a lot during my preparations as it provided precise and authentic knowledge on hot issues. It also sharpened my vision and skills.<\/p>\n

JWT: What, in your opinion, is the key to get through compulsory papers especially that of General Knowledge? <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

NA:<\/strong><\/span> Complete focus on the changes and developments happening around the world and keen eye on what gets published in newspapers close to the exam time really pays off.<\/p>\n

JWT: What was your strategy to getting excellent marks in compulsory papers?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\"Nuaman<\/a>NA:<\/strong><\/span> I focused on both the portions: the subjective and the objective. I adorned my answers with maps, diagrams and suitable data. In Islamiyat and Urdu, I quoted the couplets of Iqbal and Rumi. I also quoted references of scholars and their books.<\/p>\n

JWT: What were the toughest and the easiest parts of your entire PMS journey?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

NA:<\/strong> <\/span>I appeared in PMS exam when I was getting training as Deputy Superintendent Jail. It was not easy for me but thanks to Allah Almighty that I not only managed time but also got through this exam and that too by securing first position in the whole province.<\/p>\n

JWT: Anything important about your PMS experience you want to share with the aspirants?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

NA:<\/strong><\/span> Everyone should focus, especially, on English Essay, Pr\u00e9cis & Composition and General Knowledge as they are the knock-out papers. General Knowledge can give a margin of 25-30 marks from an average student and this margin is a game-changer in determination of your final merit.<\/p>\n

JWT:\u00a0 Who deserve(s) the credit for your success?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

NA:\u00a0<\/strong> <\/span>My parents and my teachers.<\/p>\n

My Interview Experience<\/span><\/h2>\n

My interview panel consisted of the following honourable members:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

  2. Mr. Syed Mubashar Raza (Member)<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n
  3. Mrs. Tabana Sajjad Naseer (Member)<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n
  4. One Representative of S&GAD<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Mr Chairman asked questions regarding my previous selection by the PPSC, the merit policy of the PPSC and my current job. He also discussed some points regarding PMS and my future as a PMS Officer.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

    Mr Mubashar Raza asked questions regarding political maps, locations, rivers and straits. He also asked precise information regarding the Durand Line, the Radcliffe Line and the issues between India and Pakistan. He also queried about the entering points in Pakistan particularly those used by Indian spy agents. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

    Mrs. Tabbana focused on the economic Issues of Pakistan and posed some precise questions regarding GDP, GNP, NI, bank interest and interest-free economy, etc. She also asked about the economic system of Pakistan as well as that of the world. <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

    The S&GAD Representative asked questions regarding my performance as Assistant Commissioner in the field and my priorities. He also focused on current issues.\u00a0
