\nThe Supreme Court of Pakistan constituted a three-judge commission to investigate allegations of rigging in the last general elections. Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Nasirul Mulk will head the inquiry commission. Justice Amir Hani Muslim and Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan are two other judges on the first-ever special judicial commission of the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n

Malala in Space<\/span><\/strong>
\nAn asteroid was named after Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousufzai. Amy Mainzer, astronomer at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory who discovered the asteroid, named it after Malala because \u201calthough many asteroids have been named, very few have been named to honour the contributions of women (and particularly women of colour).\u201d<\/p>\n

\nApr 10: Pakistan’s parliament adopted a resolution on Yemen urging Pakistan to stay neutral in the conflict, and expressing support for Saudi Arabia and calling on all factions to resolve their differences peacefully.<\/p>\n

\nApr 16: The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) revised the scheme and syllabi for CSS Competitive Examination 2016 and onwards. Syllabi has been changed recognizing the need to align the subjects and syllabi for CSS Exam, which were last revised in 1981, with emerging global trends and for netting high talent and quality fabric for the civil service.<\/p>\n

\nApr 20: Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Islamabad on his maiden visit to Pakistan \u2014 the first by a Chinese head of state in nine years. The visiting dignitary also addressed a joint session of the Parliament. Both countries signed 51 agreements in different sectors.<\/p>\n

\nApr 25: A massive 7.9 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal with its epicenter less than 50 miles from the capital, Kathmandu killing more than 6000 people. The tremors were felt across the region, and into neighbouring India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.<\/p>\n

Playing it to Perfection<\/span><\/strong>
\nApr 30: Pakistani cueist Hamza Akbar beat Indian opponent Pankaj Advani to claim the trophy of the Asian Snooker Championship in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Hamza, playing in his first international event, became the second Pakistani to win the title after Muhammad Yousuf won it in 1998.<\/p>\n
