Instead, you should learn words, but at a rate where they are not falling out of your head. Start with a few words per day, then increase the number. Oftentimes, your brain simply needs to adapt to something it is not used to doing, i.e. learning vocabulary.

Another efficient way of learning vocabulary: use mnemonics. A mnemonic is a creative way of remembering a word. Let’s take the words gregarious. Gregarious means sociable. Say I have a friend named Greg, and, indeed, he is outgoing.

There are also some online dictionaries and forums where students share their mnemonics. But, the best way of doing it is to create one’s own.

Aaisha Tahir (Lahore)

Tribute to Younus Khan

I extend my heartiest felicitations to the legendary Pakistani cricketer Younus Khan on achieving the milestone of 10,000 runs in test cricket. He is the very first Pakistani and the 13th player overall to achieve this feat. One can safely say that Younus’s landmark warmed the hearts of millions of Pakistanis who had long desired the presence of a batsman from their country in the elusive 10K Test runs club. He is a great batsman and a leader as Pakistan won 2009 T20 World Cup under his captaincy. Every Pakistani must applaud Younus Khan. Entire nation salutes this great son of the nation.

Khalifa Arman (Turbat)

Crying for Justice

Justice is a fundamental right of the people and it has to be delivered speedily. We often hear maxims like ‘Justice delayed is justice denied’, ‘Do justice even if heavens fall’, etc., because justice keeps balance and order in a society and propels it toward prosperity and progress. In our case, unfortunately, speedy and low-cost justice has been a distant dream. The lethargic performance of the courts and a labyrinthian judicial system further deteriorate the situation. Due to corruption, ineffective system and lack of accountability, injustice prevails. It won’t be an exaggeration that the judicial system in Pakistan has largely lost its credibility in the eyes of the masses.

The swift disposal of cases with equal attention on awarding befitting, exemplary punishments to the real culprits is the most pressing need of the hour.

Mohammad Naeem Baloch (Quetta )

The Panamagate Verdict

The Supreme Court verdict in Panama case will remain a historic one because it is for the first time in Pakistan that a decision got such a huge importance and public attention. Secondly, the dissenting note which calls for de-notifying the Prime Minister of Pakistan suggests that the incumbent Prime Minister, Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, has lost moral authority to rule the country. I still can’t understand why PML(N) ministers and workers have celebrated the verdict. I salute PTI chairman Mr Imran Khan for keeping this issue alive; without his efforts people would have forgotten about the Panama issue.

Khalifa Arman (Turbat)

For feedback and suggestions, please write to us at: editorjwtmag@gmail.com; editor@jworldtimes.com Tips to Learn Vocabulary For CSS aspirants, learning hundreds of words while only having a tenuous grasp of them is not efficacious.
