I belong to village Ranian of District Gujrat. I did my matric and FSc from Gujrat. Then I passed B.A in 2005 from Government College University, Lahore. Later I completed LLB from Punjab University Law College. Presently, I am doing LLM from University of the Punjab. I am also teaching Constitutional and International Law to LLB classes at University of the Punjab.
What are your major achievements in life?
I won gold medal and Academic Roll of Honour in my graduation at Government College University. I also obtained first position throughout three years of LL.B (2005-2008) programme and was awarded four gold medals. I have participated in various international conferences in Vienna, Dubai and Iran and have presented academic research papers.
I have passed CSS 2010 written examination. Recently in November 2010, I have been selected as Rhodes Scholarship for the year 2011 and I regard this prestigious scholarship as the biggest achievement. I will leave for Oxford in August 2011 where I intend to start Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) ‘a prestigious law degree at Oxford University.

You stood first throughout your career. What is the secret behind it?
I view my success as the outcome of my father’s hardwork and dedication. I am proud to be his son as he is strongly committed to his children’s well-being and educational advancement. Moreover, I consider the award of Rhodes Scholarship a special gift of Almighty God.
What was the time span of your study?
I usually study for 12 to 15 hours a day but it varies under various circumstances.
What was your preparation method for the examinations?

I have read autobiographies of great persons who marked their names in history. Nelson Mandela and Mother Teresa have always inspired me.
What was your technique to memorise the thing with logic or rote-learning?
I, presently, am of the view that rote-learning does not help in higher education. I memorise various things but only after understanding them.
Who is the source of inspiration behind your success?
I have read autobiographies of great persons who marked their names in history. Nelson Mandela and Mother Teresa have always inspired me. Mandela has said, ‘There is no easy walk to freedom. Many of us have to pass through the shadow of valley of death to reach the mountaintops of our desires’.
You got top position. Is it due to your hard working or God-gifted abilities?
I believe success is the combination of hardwork and good luck. Planning is the hallmark of work ethics but it is not the sole criterion of achieving success as ‘Man proposes, God disposes. Hard work is necessary to exploit one’s potential to its best.
What was the role of your parents as far as motivation and success is concerned?
My parents have always encouraged and appreciated my success. Without their dedicated and enduring efforts, I would not have been able to achieve success.
Are you in the favour attending tuition centres?
I discourage exploitative tuition centres in the strongest possible terms.
Which subjects are helpful for our young generation–technical, science or arts?
I think social sciences are helpful in broadening students’ mental level and sharpening their analytical skills. The neglect of humanities in our educational institutions is a worrying aspect.
Position holders usually go abroad and never come back to serve the country. What is your plan?
Brains go there where they are appreciated. Position holders do not return to Pakistan because they are not given their due social status. But the aim of serving one’s country with all his potential should not be ignored.
Is safarish necessary for getting high position?
Although in Pakistan, ‘Safarish’ has become norm of the life but academic excellence has no substitute. A talented person makes his own way wherever he finds himself.
