Summary. As it aspires to become a global leader in hi-tech future industries and solve a severe graduate jobs crisis, which has left millions of young people struggling to find work, China is working full throttle on building a future-ready workforce. Its universities are undertaking a massive reshuffling of their academic programs by culling thousands of so-called obsolete degrees in favour of new, tech-focused ones. This reform is part of a drive to better align Chinese higher education with the nation's development goals.
